Blue Jays clip Orioles with walk-off homer to take MLB wild-card game

Toronto baseball fans can thank a man with a parrot.

Edwin Encarnacion’s three-run home run in the bottom of the 11th inning lifted the Blue Jays over the Baltimore Orioles last night in the AL wild-card game. The Jays soared past the Orioles 5-2 sending Toronto to Texas to take on the Rangers in the ALDS.

Encarnacion is known for his peculiar base running style. Right arm up and cocked to the side, as if carrying an imaginary parrot.

And, the parrot was prominent in Tuesday night’s celebrations. Everyone from players to fans were strutting and squawking. After a miserable September, it was some well-deserved preening.

MLB even had a little fun with it.

Once again, here’s the winning play.

The best-of-five ALDS starts Thursday in Texas.
