Chloe the stolen French bulldog found wandering suburban streets

The French bulldog stolen from a Vancouver tattoo shop while a surveillance camera rolled last week has been found wandering the streets in a nearby suburb. Theft of the dog, Chloe, grabbed worldwide attention last week after a seemingly friendly customer wanted to cuddle with a staff member’s dog, but instead made off with the 10-month-old pup. The dog’s owner, Shaughnessy Keely, who launched a far-reaching social media campaign after Chloe’s disappearance, posted a grateful update to Facebook:

“As you may have heard, CHLOE IS HOME!
After 6 long days of searching, Chloe has finally made her way back to our squishy-faced family! She has been playing all day long with Chips and Pretzel and is happy as can be! She is in good health and has definitely gained some necessary street cred.

Chloe was found wandering the suburban streets of Abbotsford yesterday afternoon. We still have no idea who found her or how she made her way out to Abbotsford! Thank you to the honest individual who turned her in as well as the Chilliwack RCMP and the Vancouver Police Department for their amazing help returning Chloe to our little family!

We are aware that news spreads fast and as such, questions arise. A lot of you have been asking how we became Chloe’s new parents in the first place. Kyle and I purchased Chloe from her previous owners exactly 2 weeks ago today as they were needing to find a new home for her. Our pup, @littlebabychips, is actually Chloe’s biological brother/litter mate so we couldn’t resist adopting little Chloe! Investigation on last Thursday’s incident still remains in progress but we hope to have everything solved soon!

We are SO SO grateful for all of the incredible help and support from all of you. From every “like”, comment, email, and repost to the extremely generous reward offers we have received–WE THANK YOU!! We can’t wait to give back to the pet-lovers of the world and pet shelters and hope to prevent things like dog thefts from happening in the future. Brainstorming begins now! THANK YOU ALL! #chloeshome

PS Chloe has resumed her usual farting routine.”

Petsearchers Canada, which was helping in the search, also rejoiced: “WOOHOOO!! CHLOE IS FOUND!!!!!!”

Vancouver Police said Wednesday its investigation “revealed that Chloe’s theft possibly stems from a dispute between an employee at the tattoo shop and the dog’s original owner.”

“Following the alleged dog napping, social media lit up with stories about the theft and police received numerous calls identifying potential suspects. Early in the investigation, police were hot on the trail of the thief and balanced the delicate task of recovering the dog unharmed,” police said in a statement.

“(Tuesday) afternoon, Chloe was found roaming a residential neighbourhood in Abbotsford by Fraser Valley Regional District Animal Control. This morning, Chloe is being reunited with her owner from the tattoo shop and police are working to retrace Chloe’s steps following her escape from captors,” police added.

The investigation continues.
