Firefighter, koala stop to watch raging Australian bushfire

Sometimes all you can do is pause.

That moment was captured by the Eden Hills County Fire Service in Australia over the weekend.

As South Australia burns in catastrophic bushfires, a firefighter and a koala stop to watch the Cudlee Creek fire.

“Firefighters will be away for the Christmas period,” the fire service also noted on its Facebook post Sunday.

“But the most amazing thing so far???,” it added. “The support of our community,we have had people drop in with food, drinks, offers of support and an amazing young lady with her mother who brought us ice creams on a 46 degree day.”

The fire department thanked everyone for their kindness and support, but also offered a reminder.

“Please please do that 5 minute bush fire plan and help us help you. Stay safe,” it added.

Meanwhile, another fire department fighting the same Cudlee Creek blaze took a break to help a parched koala.

The Oakbank Balhannah fire service posted a video of the encounter.

“Came across this thirsty little guy,” the fire service posted on Facebook Sunday. “Gave him a few bottles of water and he was on his way!”
