Firefighters in Ohio rescue dog from ice-covered creek

It was a textbook icy-water rescue caught on video.

As a woman yelled, “Thank you! Thank you!” firefighters in Blue Ash, Ohio pulled a golden retriever to shore from what would otherwise have been an icy grave.

The dog had become submerged in a freshly frozen creek Sunday morning.

The entire rescue was recorded on video.

“How about a heart-warming story on this chilly day?” the city posted later on Facebook. “The Blue Ash Fire Department rescued a Golden Retriever this morning after the pup accidentally fell through ice on Hunters Creek.”

Praise is pouring in for the firefighter who braved frigid water to save the dog.

The fire department is chalking it up to another day on the job.

“We’re happy this dog is now home safe, but this is also a great reminder to make sure people and pets stay away from frozen water,” the department tweeted. “It can be very dangerous!”
