Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services responded to an animal rescue call last week after the owner of a house found out a yellow Lab puppy had fallen into a well on his property.
When the firefighters arrived on the scene, they found the two to three month dog in a 75 foot deep well.
“The black Labrador was barking this morning and I went outside to find that the yellow Labrador had fallen into the well.
Firefighters constructed a tripod above the hole and lowered firefighter Brendan O’Brian down into the well.
Moments later, O’Brien was raised out of the well with the dog. The dog was given to firefighters who administered oxygen and appeared to be OK. Afterwards, the dog was handed over to a representative from Animal Control to be taken to the Cherokee County Animal Shelter.
But if the owner isn’t found, Santillan said he would be interested in adopting both dogs.
