Toronto has been twice-denied the chance to host an Olympics, but that hasn’t stopped one the city’s biggest stars from putting on a gold medal performance at home.
Da Mao, a giant panda at the Toronto Zoo, proved his agility in winter sports during a record-breaking snowfall that closed the facility early on Feb. 5. A security camera caught the black and white bear in his outdoor habitat doing a 360 in the snow and somersaulting off some rocks.
“Da Mao sure seemed to enjoy himself,” the zoo posted on YouTube, where the footage has been viewed almost 3 million times.
Give this animal athlete top marks for creativity – and for braving the polar vortex.
Da Mao and panda partner Er Shun joined the Toronto Zoo from their home base in China last March.
