Horse and alpaca with “very strong bond” seek new home

Lexi and George are best friends. Lexi is a nine-year-old Belgian/Clydesdale cross mare. George is an adult male alpaca. They are homeless and looking for someone to adopt them – together.

The Ontario SPCA is making the plea on Facebook.

“Lexi and George have always lived together and have a very strong bond. If possible we would like to keep them together. He is always by her side and when in their stall he is constantly chatting with her. George is slightly nervous but is becoming more and more comfortable everyday.”

Lexi, incidentally, is extremely nervous and hasn’t been broke to ride.

“She will need a home that is willing to work with her and build up her trust,” the animal welfare group posted. “She has had very minimal handling prior to coming into our care but has been making great progress at our foster farm with learning to trust people.”

The outpouring has been immediate with people offering their love, support – and interest in adoption.

No word yet if a new home has been found. But for more information, please contact Inspector Sara Munoz at (905) 898-7122 ext. 337 or email smunoz@ospca.on.ca.
