We think this is a clever way to remind people that owning a dog can be a lifelong commitment.
The Ramona Humane Society in San Jacinto, Calif. has shared these before and after images of a man and his dog.
“A powerful picture of a man and his dog taken 15 years apart–same man same dog. Owning a pet is a lifetime duty. If this is not what you had in mind you might want to consider not getting a pet.”
The response was emotional and swift. Both man and dog a little bit more grey. But still appear very much as best friends. The simple, but poignant post has been shared more than 150,000 times.
“I wish more people knew that a pet is a life long commitment,” wrote Deb Butler Morris. “They are not something you get rid of when they no longer amuse you, when they bother you, are no longer cute, require your attention. If you can’t be there for the life of your pet, don’t get one!”
Sari Parket Heslin posted, “Just amazing. Such loyalty. Love to see this.”
“This is just beautiful on so many levels,” wrote Kerrie Tatarka.
We couldn’t agree more.
