Prince Harry criticized, praised for Texas rodeo visit

Prince Harry made an unexpected visit to Fort Worth, Texas, living what some call his best American life, just weeks after attending the Super Bowl for the first time.

The Duke of Sussex was pictured wearing a cowboy hat at the Stockyards Rodeo in Fort Worth on Saturday with his wife noticeably absent.

A witness at the event said fellow attendees were surprised by Harry’s presence and wondered what the Duchess of Sussex thought of the history of animal abuse in rodeos.

Markle has been vocal about animal rights, and the prince’s visit was criticized by PETA, which labelled his unusual appearance as “extremely disappointing” given the reputation of rodeos for encouraging animal “suffering”.

“It’s extremely disappointing to see that Prince Harry made the misjudgement to attend a rodeo, a crude, old amusement for bored cowboys who view animals as nothing more than things,” Catie Cryar, a PETA assistant manager, said in a statement.
