For the record, the Chicago Cubs scored zero runs to 6 earned by the Pittsburg Pirates that night.
But it didn’t matter.
Because all the cheers went to an intrepid little rat looking for a way out of the outfield at Wrigley Field last week.
Local photographer Will Byington, seated in the bleachers, caught the determined rodent on video as it made leap after unsuccessful leap from the fence to the outfield wall, and eventually, we assume, to safety.
The Wrigley rally rat was pretty much the only thing the hometown crowd had to cheer about.
“When the #WrigleyRallyRat gets the biggest cheer of the night?” Byington posted on Instagram. “I think it was rigged by the piRATes! It’s been a rough game!”
The fans in this video may be the second best part of the action.
“You can do it,” one fan urged.
And, it is awe-inspiring.
You just gotta have goals.
