San Jose Sharks player Marc-Édouard Vlasic celebrates birthday with his rescue dogs

Pro hockey really has gone to the dogs.

At least for San Jose Sharks defenseman Marc-Édouard Vlasic who recently celebrated his 31st birthday with his beloved trio of pooches.

Kelly, Nicky and Macy — all rescue dogs — have long been at the NHLer’s side.

Vlasic really does love his pups.

In fact, they are mostly what he talks about on social media.

The Montreal-native treats his dogs as family.

The Olympic gold medallist (for Team Canada in Sochi 2014) even has hockey-themed family portraits.

And custom artwork.

Vlasic advocates pet adoption, often posing with animals in need of new homes, and publicly supports animal-friendly legislation.

Vlasic is married, but it’s pretty clear who rules on the home front.

(We’re almost positive his wife, Martine Vlasic, understands.)

Dogs really are this man’s best friends.
