Wednesday Zen Moment: This lonely dog was the only one not adopted but karma steps in

This sad face of a special needs dog name Eastwood was the only animal shelter dog not adopted after a mass shelter drive that saw 2,500 pets adopted in a campaign to find the right home for abandoned animals.

But Eastwood was left behind.

Here’s what his amazing shelter Little Traverse Bay Humane Society posted:

Poor Eastwood is so lonely now that all of his pals have been adopted! Eastwood is the only dog left at the shelter after Empty the Shelters on Saturday, but we know the perfect home is out there somewhere. This amazing boy has a few health issues that need to be addressed (which is why we think he was abandoned initially, poor guy!), but this boy is so sweet, we know it will be well worth it. He’s only a year old and as nice as they come. Did we mention he’s great with other dogs, cats AND kids?? Please “like” and share this post, so Eastwood can have the happily ever after that he so deserves!

They got likes and shares in spades and suddenly requests to adopt him flooded in. Some of the most karma -aly requests to adopt him came from families with children with their own special needs.

The shelter posted an update.

Thank you everyone for your interest in sweet Eastwood! We have been getting a lot of calls and interest in him and we could not be happier! If you are interested in Eastwood please submit an application at www.ltbhs.com. Eastwood has some leg deformities that we believe he was born with. Although the Veterinarian is not recommending surgery for his legs at this time, he could need surgery in the future, which his new family would be responsible for. These surgeries could be upward of $4000. Although we understand this is a lot to take on for most families, we are committed to finding the perfect fit for Eastwood. Thank you again for all of your support and shares!

Finally the best news of all:

Eastwood has been ADOPTED!! After careful thought and consideration, we are thrilled to announce that Eastwood now has a forever home! This was a VERY difficult decision. We reviewed over 80 adoption applications today, and while there were countless families who would have given Eastwood an amazing home, one stood out above the rest. We are all extremely touched by your incredible love and support for this boy-he is one lucky pup! For everyone who was hoping to adopt Eastwood, please consider opening your heart and home to one of the many homeless dogs who enter our shelter system every year-there are so many in need of wonderful, forever homes! Please stayed tuned in the next week for more specific details about Eastwood’s adoption-photos to follow!

The Empty the Shelter campaign was a targeted aim to get 2,500 pets across Michigan adopted. More than 20 shelters participated in finding homes for animals.

Please show some love for humane shelters like Little Traverse Bay Humane Society,  a no-kill, donor-funded, non-profit corporation that offers a temporary home to companion animals. The staff and volunteers there went way out of their way to help one critter. That’s zen, that’s karma.
