Wolf vs Elk: Photographer wins

James Huang was recently visiting Kootenay National Park in British Columbia’s interior when she spotted a true circle of life moment. What’s more, he captured it in a stunning – and terrifying – photograph. A wolf taking down an elk in the middle of a glacier-fed river in the Canadian Rockies.

“While this photo may look cruel, it is part of the natural cycle and helps ensure that wildlife populations and vegetation remain healthy,” Parks Canada noted on its Facebook page where it posted the image. “Remember, wildlife is wild. Please stay at least 100 m away from predators when viewing animals in the park.”
