It wasn’t the usual traffic stop.
Just before Christmas, North Kansas City Police officer Jason Smith was driving along a stretch of I-29 where he spotted a helpless kitten was perched on the median.
Smith pulled over and when it was safe, approached and scooped up the tiny meowing cat.
And if that wasn’t enough, he adopted her and named her Bella.
A meet-cute caught on body-cam for the ages.
But the story doesn’t end there.

Officer Smith’s son, Josh, has now set up an Instagram account called Bella The Highway Kitty.
It’s confirmed. She is adorable.
And so playful.
And loves other animals.
