Wildlife rangers in Australia set up a motion-sensor camera along a river last spring with an eye to capturing crocodiles. Instead, an eagle swooped in and grabbed the camera, carrying it 110 kilometres across the countryside before unloading its pilfered cache.
The eagle cam picks up the sounds of flapping wings, wind and some neat landscape – if the viewer can handle the stomach churning Blair Witch Project-style shaky footage. Mercifully, the bird eventually drops the camera, and mugs for the lens showing even eagles are suckers for selfies.
