Tim Bartlett had an unusually close encounter with a wolf in British Columbia’s Kootenay National Park. The normally elusive animal chased Bartlett for about one kilometre along Highway 93 in June, but managed to take some amazing photos to prove it. Parks Canada staff considered it odd behaviour. Not long after, another man reported a recent similar experience of a wolf galloping along the highway.
All of it has left experts wondering if wolves in the park were getting too accustomed to people. A year earlier, Parks Canada issued a warning after a visitor snapped photos of wolves along the roadway eating rice cakes.
Feeding wild animals is stupid. It also comes with a hefty fine of up to $25,000 if you’re caught doing it in a national park.
