If there was really an official Selfie of the Year, brothers Neil and Michael Fletcher may nab the title with this submission.
The brothers, who are from northern Ontario, were on a hunting trip when they encountered a trapped bald eagle.
They captured the rescue on video and posted it on Michael’s Facebook page.
Their wildlife rescue mission turned into a happy story for the bird. While one brother carefully inched closer to the injured eagle, the other covered the bird with his jacket to keep it from moving.
The pair then worked for minutes to free the bird from the trap.
Freed, the bird posed with them for a selfie which has quickly gone viral.
