Some eagle eyes helped get an impaired driver off the road in cottage country and a baby raccoon to safety.
The Ontario Provincial Police in Huntsville said Wednesday they arrested a man for impaired operation of a vehicle.
Stopping an alleged impaired driver may not be all that unusual, but what officers found in the vehicle with him definitely was.
“The male had a baby raccoon with him,” OPP Central Region tweeted, along with a photo of it in the back of a police car. “Raccoon is on its way to Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary.”
The Muskoka sanctuary deals with all kinds of abandoned, orphaned and injured wildlife. Hopefully, the baby trash panda will be tip top in its care.
Police also had a few words for the good Samaritans who aided in the arrest.
“Thank you to the public for reporting this driver to police!” OPP added.
