Maine Coon cats are usually known for their extra toes, but Mr. Pugsley Addams has something extra special: an exceptional long tail.
So long in fact, at a “whopping” 18.5 inches (46.99 centimetres), Guinness World Records recently bestowed the fluffy grey kitty with the honour of having the longest tail on a living domestic cat.

“Everybody always wants to meet him, and falls in love with his calm demeanor,” owner Amanda Cameron, told Guinness. “He is super soft, and is always purring. He’s just a great little guy to be around.”
“When we go out and about, they call him a ‘local celebrity!’” she added.

Two-year-old Mr. Pugsley Addams, so named from the Addams Family, lives in Mound, Minnesota with his humans and three other cats: Winnie, Duchess and Gomez.

Cameron always knew Pugsley was special — or at least had an especially long tail and had the vet measure it.

“So I told my kids, and of course their first reaction was to see if there was a current Guinness World Records title for that. And what do you know – there was, and to our shock, Pugsley beat it!”

And who knows, it may grow longer yet.
Maine Coon cats aren’t fully grown until around four- or five-years-old.
“But until then,” Guinness wrote in making the announcement, “they’ll just reward him with his favourite treat (beef jerky) and some well-deserved kisses and shoulder-rubs – but just don’t touch his tail!”
