It’s turtle season in North Carolina and the turtles are ready to battle.
When a Hillsborough police officer tried to scurry a turtle off the road, the turtle would have none of that.
Lt. Andy Simmons said he first noticed the turtle as cars were swerving around to avoid the critter during rush hour.
Simmons used a snow brush to encourage the turtle to cross the road at a faster pace than the turtle wanted.
After 20 minutes of trying, the turtle wrangling ended in a draw.
This gator was not pleased with the assistance I was trying to provide. If we were keeping score this would be a draw, Turtle .5 and Lieutenant .5.
Turtle wrangling isn’t taught, apparently, at the police academy.
