In the end, it wasn’t a dilemma at all.
Epic cat photo always trumps feline-slobbered dinner.
Still, Margaret Middleton paused briefly to consider the problem.
“The photojournalist’s dilemma: save your girlfriend’s pasta or get the shot of a lifetime?”
Answer?

Oh, and her girlfriend was totally fine with the decision.
I endorse your decision. Let her eat the pasta. Get the shot. https://t.co/U8gtvi5Hto

And thus ends a modern day romantic decision making on social media.
Cats always win the internet.
To address your burning questions:
1. It’s my girlfriend’s cat, The Banshee
2. My girlfriend ate the rest of the pasta
3. She endorses my decision https://t.co/05obgy6JaQ— Margaret Middleton (@magmidd) August 29, 2018
There is a somewhat sad postscript to this story.
The spaghetti-eating cat, The Banshee, has cancer.
But the 14-year-old rescue cat is living out whatever time she has left basking in love, comfort and now, fame.
Here’s a link to the crowdfunding account created last December when she was diagnosed to help with vet bills.
Be well, The Banshee.
The Banshee thanks you for all the love (and spaghetti!) She was diagnosed with cancer last winter and we are doing everything we can to keep her happy and comfy. If you’d like to help us out with her vet bills we’d be so grateful 💖 https://t.co/hoJR0QaRoV
