Apparently California is the land of the Chihuahuas and there is a need for them, lil dogs, to go east or risk being over-represented in shelters on the west coast. Not exactly sure how nine chihuahuas will upset the balance of tiny dog demographics. But these nine are on their way to New York via Virgin America. “We have a major overpopulation of Chihuahuas here in California,” said San Francisco’s Animal Care and Control director Rebecca Katz. In NY, the dogs will be homed with new families.
