Puppies take to the ice with the Las Vegas Golden Knights to promote rescue group

You know you have a winning combination when you pair hockey players with puppies — especially in Vegas.

The Las Vegas Golden Knights has teamed up with Vegas Roots Rescue to promote a dog-themed calendar — and pet adoption — for 2022.

The NHL team tweeted a behind-the-scenes video featuring the somewhat softer side of its players: “we like puppies, yes we do, we like puppies, how about you?”

Indeed, they do.

The players seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves.

“We really wanted to give back to furry friends in the community,” said Mia Greenlee, the team’s community relations manager. “It’s really important to us to try to help get these dogs adopted.”

Lauren Mushkin, co-founder of Vegas Roots Rescue, said the organization was founded in 2019 and is one of the newest animal rescue groups in the region.

“We rely solely on donations, solely on volunteers, solely on fosters. So, without events like this you don’t get publicity and wouldn’t be able to operate like we do,” she explained.

The Las Vegas Golden Knights Dog Calendars are available at The Arsenal and all proceeds benefit the VGK Foundation, which in turn, helps charities like Vegas Roots Rescue.

“We want to thank the Vegas Golden Knights for letting us partner with them for their 2022 Calendar,” the rescue organization posted. “Our pups had the absolute best time and we hope everyone heads down to The Arsenal for a calendar, a portion of the proceeds will be benefiting us.”
