Orphaned black bear cubs on the mend in Oregon

They purr. They walk tentatively with a bit of a wobble. And, they’re starting to cut their teeth. This trio of tiny black bear cubs, likely orphaned when their mother was scared off by logging operations, has made themselves at home at the Oregon Zoo’s veterinary clinic. The facility posted an adorable video of the month-old, 2- to 3-pound cubs on YouTube this week.

The cubs were only brought to the facility last Friday and will remain until they are healthy enough to travel to their new home in Texas, officials said.

“The Oregon Zoo veterinary medical center is feeling a bit like a nursery these days, with crying babies, round-the-clock feedings and quite a bit of cooing from the zoo’s animal-care staff,” the zoo posted this week on its website.
