Popular pet names are passé; unique monikers for dogs and cats are so hot right now

We’ve all met dogs named Daisy, Coco and Max. And, cats named Chloe, Shadow and Simba.

They are routinely among the most popular pet names.

But what about Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore or The Notorious Duchess Zigmunda Pompington of Stardust (Stagename Ziggy)?

Well, Trupanion knows those pets well, too.

The Seattle-based pet insurance giant has released its list of truly unique pet names to celebrate its current roster of 530,000 animal clients in the U.S. and Canada.

“Over the past 20 years, Trupanion has gone on to insure 1,130 pets named Monty, not to mention thousands upon thousands of cats and dogs named Luna, Bella, Charlie and Lucy,” the company said in a statement. Trupanion has also seen its fair share of unique dog names and unique cat names through the years.”

Trupanion said it has insured more than 1.3 million pets, so it has a front-row seat to the pet name game.

This is Timmy.

And without further ado, here’s the list of the most unusual of fur baby names. Celebrity parents would be proud.
