“Law-abiding bear” looks both ways before using crosswalk in North Carolina

It’s not exactly Abbey Road, but it’s bear-y close.

Police in North Carolina recently shared an incredible video of a bear crossing a busy downtown street in Asheville. The animal even looked both ways before strolling along to the other side of the road.

The Asheville Police department said officers responded to the “unusual call” of a bear “milling around downtown” on April 21.

The black bear was wearing a wildlife enforcement tracking collar as it wandering around downtown as people went about their business. The bear then climbed up a tree in Pritchard Park.

“At one point the bear even crossed the street by using the crosswalk,” the police department said in a Facebook post. “Although officers appreciated the law-abiding bear, it was important to get the bear back to a wooded area for safety.”

This is the third time local police have had to help get bears out of the downtown area in the past three weeks.

And it was a happy exit for this particularly critter.

“We wanted to make sure he was out of harms way!” police added.
