So, a pony walks into a police station

Police in Cheshire, England had a spot of fun with an unusual visitor this week. The encounter with a “neigh”-bour, yes “neigh”-bour, was described in the Cheshire Constabulary’s YouTube upload yesterday.

A horse moseyed into the police headquarters in the wee hours on Oct. 6. The brown and white pony, which lives in a field near the building, made it through two sets of automatic doors and bypassed a man before heading into the reception area.

The animal then makes its getaway through the same set of doors. It also gets some encouraging pats from a security guard.

The animal was safely “escorted off the premises” and returned it to its “official residence,” police confirmed.

Officers took the encounter in stride.

“We were somewhat saddled with our unexpected guest, who in the early hours of the morning quickly became the mane event of the night shift. We like to ensure a warm welcome to all our guests at HQ, and at neigh point did the horse pose a risk to security and appeared to be a well cared for animal,” Superintendent Peter Crowcroft noted on YouTube.

A pony visit to police in Cheshire is pretty awesome. But seriously, weren’t we all expecting cat?
