Paula Godwin can thank her dog for saving her from a rattlesnake during a morning walk.
The Anthem, Arizona woman was taking her golden retriever named Todd for walk Friday when they came upon the potentially deadly snake.
“It was a beautiful morning but as we were walking down the hill I literally almost stepped on a mf rattlesnake,” Godwin wrote on Facebook. “But my hero of a puppy Todd saved me He jumped right in front of my leg were I surely would have got bit.”
Todd got between the rattler and his owner and took a bite to the face.
“This is what a hero looks like,” Godwin wrote. “Please say a little prayer for my sweet hero.”
Todd’s face swelled dramatically.
He was taken to Anthem Animal Hospital and will be fine.
His story has gone viral, as people around the world are praising his heroism.
“Todd’s doing so well he is a wonder to me how he is healing,” Godwin added by way of update. “Just a thank you to all the support Your kindness and support is truly a blessing.”
Godwin’s story has been shared thousands of times on social media.
Some heroes were collars as well as capes.
So moved by the outpouring, Godwin wants to pay it forward.
A GoFundMe page to help other pet owners.
“Todd wants to help more puppies that may need help. Donations are not towards Todd’s bill but for those in need of help in paying unexpected vet bills,” she wrote.
Todd is a very good dog.
