The cold spell coming in from China has has seen temperatures drop as low as -2 in some areas of upper Thailand. Normal temperature range in the high 20s at this time of year.

It’s been so cold that bonfires have been lit at elephant sanctuaries to to help keep them warm.

A hashtag on Twitter called #ColdtoDeath has photos of the odd ways Thai people are using to keep warm including colourful towels wrapped around themselves and skinny dogs in t-shirts.
